Tonight is our third of this seasons on air Mosiah Sessions and is a special one. 128 years ago today in the Parish of St. Anns on the island of Jamaica a Prophet was born, the Most Eminent Prophet and King, His Excellency Marcus Mosiah Garvey – founder of the Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League of the World (UNIA-ACL) and the inspiration for the Mosiah season. So we have designated this the 17th day of the 8th month MOSIAH DAY. It is a day when we engage in ceremony, libation and spiritual reflection in honour of the life and legacy Papa Garvey.So the phone and text lines won’t be opened tonight as we will be drawing from our special archives to honour our Most Eminent Prophet and King.
First we will hear the word sounds of the Marcus Mosiah Garvey himself as he delivers his Afrika for the Afrikans message.
Then we will play an exclusive interview with the late master teacher, warrior scholar and official historian on the life and legacy of Marcus Mosiah Garvey and the UNIA-ACL – Baba Tony Martin. The in depth interview conducted by Bro. Omowale covers wide-range of topics including the impact and legacy of Mama Amy Ashwood Garvey the subject of his last book in the New Marcus Garvey Library series, the scholarship of Dr. Robert Hill, his perspective on the documentary Look For Me In The Whirlwind, The Honourable Elijah Muhammad’s role in the UNIA and the impact of the Garvey movement on non Afrikans like Ho Chi Minh.
Then Afrika Speaks with Alkebu-Lan on Galaxy Radio producer Bro. Olatunji interviews the current UNIA-ACL President General and 10th successor to Marcus Mosiah Garvey, Baba Senghor Jawara Baye.
We will round off with an excerpt a classic message from Bro. Ldr Mbandaka from 1998, the year of the very first community Mosiah Observance entitled The Mosiah Has Come.
