Does our NATION BUILDING programme need REVITALISING? | Mon 16th Nov 2015

November 16, 2015 Alkebu-Lan Revivalist Movement
ASwA Revitalising copyOn the back of the recent Edinburgh Rep’ Conference and our last show, we turn our attention to the upcoming interim National Afrikan People’s Parliament (iNAPP) General People’s assembly (GPA) on Imani-Day (Sat) 28/11/15 at Queen  Mother Moore School Hall, under the theme Revitalising the iNAPP vision.  For those unaware, the iNAPP aims be a nationwide, independent, representative body designed to promote, preserve and protect the best interest of Afrikan (Black) people domiciled in the UK (and globally) and to establish the framework for the restoration of Afrikan sovereignty through nation building.

The theme is in part related to the transitional process iNAPP has been going through since a huge leadership setback in February, with the reigns being held by its Interim National Organising Committee (INOC) and Council of Elders in the intervening period.  However, the theme also relates to the necessity for any programme that seeks to galvanise the people to remain vital and relevant.

For iNAPP the GPA serves a number of functions, that are of vital importance to the building process of the NAPP, including:   maintaining face to face contact with The People/Community; to give progress updates to The People/Community; allowING the People/Community to engage with INOC in an ongoing consultation process, toward building the National Afrikan People’s Parliament; a mechanism of transparency and accountability, allowing the People/Community, direct access to INOC to raise issues and concerns and if necessary, take it to task on the spot and also to raise issues of local, nation or international concerns, to agree and direct communication and to profile individuals, groups, projects, organisation and institutions that are leading important community programmes, campaigns and initiatives.

The GPA will bring all these elements together with the issue of the moment under the slogan “Reparation begins with Self-Repair!” the event will highlight existing community organisations engaged in ‘self-repair’ (e.g. Afrikan Co-operative Union, Mother Earth Minerals and Mining Services MEMAMS, Organisation of Black Unity, etc) and iNAPP’s vision to ‘join up the dots’ by way of a national empowerment agenda.  Indeed as Prof Hilary Beckles, Chair of the Caricom Reparations Commission has asserted: “No people have ever got reparation from a position of weakness, disunity or disorganisation.”

As the iNAPP press release states:

“The GPA will be updating the community on the iNAPP draft constitution and manifesto, which will soon be made available for public consultation, will have Sign-Up To iNAPP (SUTI) operation on the day and will, indeed, be urging everyone to Sign-Up To iNAPP.”

That said, we wish to thank you all for keeping faith with us and in iNAPP’s vision of NATION BUILDING.

This GPA will mark a crucial step in the recovery and forward planning of iNAPP; under the inspirational theme captioned above. Most importantly, the GPA will be an opportunity for you to assume an important role in the reconstruction and development of our parliament.”

So we ask the question,

Does our nation building programme need revitalising?

  1. Will you be attending the General People’s assembly on 28/11?
  2. Will you be signing up to iNAPP?
  3. Why have Afrikans in the UK yet to establish a national representative body?
  4. Can we seriously pursue reparations without one?
