P.FAQs: Pan-Afrikan Investment Day (P.A.I.D.)
Q. Why do you use the term “Pan-Afrikan”?
A. ‘Pan’ means ‘all’. ‘Afrikan’ refers to Black people, commonly identified as ‘Afrikan-Caribbean’ or ‘People of Afrikan Descent’ in the UK. The term specifies the community P.A.I.D. intends to service as well as the social principle P.A.I.D. is designed to fulfil. The spelling of Afrikan with ‘k’, is a tradition that developed among some Afrikan-Centred schools of thought for linguistic, historical and in some cases political reasons. The ARMY were raised in that tradition and so use the ‘k’, but there is no fundamental conflict between this and the use of the ‘c’.
Q. What do you mean by “Black Group Economics”?
A. Black Group Economics means Black people taking collective responsibility for building the social relationships that enable our independent economic development. It emphasises the fact that the most effective and sustained programmes of wealth creation and holistic economic development are the products of not only a personal resolve, but a collective process.
Q. What do you mean by “Community Investors”?
A. Community investors are you, us, we – The Black Community at large. P.A.I.D. encourages us to see ourselves as Pro-Active agents of our economic development. Whatever our financial status or personal circumstances, we all have something to invest in the economy of our community.
