Afrika Speaks with Alkebu-Lan on Galaxy Radio 06/09/21 – Covid-19 Vaccine for Children: Is it necessary?

In spite of plenty of evidence to the contrary, the UK government continues to declare that they are ‘following the science” in their response to Covid-19. (1) This approach supposedly influenced their stated desire (representing the latest in a long line of Covid u-turns) to vaccinate all 12-15 year-old children on their return to school this month – with or without their parent’s consent. (2)

However, the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI), UK’s vaccine advisory body has now “refused to give the green light to vaccinating healthy children aged 12-15 years on health grounds alone.” This advice tests the government’s ‘pro-science’ posture, who will decide whether to follow the given advice. (3)

There’s a growing body of evidence that supports the JCVI decision, highlighting the risks of the “experimental COVID-19 biologic” the administration of which is not only said to coincide with increased mortality as well as cardiac and neurological injury, it is also reportedly “more deadly for the young than for the old.” (4) Moreover, a groundswell of professionals, medics and academics contend that “children and young people are minimally affected by Covid-19”. (5) As such the plan to vaccinate children has been attacked as “irresponsible, unethical and unnecessary”. (6)

Yet the government’s rationale for potentially not following this bit of science is that the advice was based on “health grounds alone”, whereas they have to “consider whether giving the vaccine to younger pupils would have a wider impact on society and education.” (7) Impact may include the deleterious effects closing schools on academic performance (especially pupils from poorer families), mental health and general wellbeing of young people. (8)

On the other hand, the increasing incidence of breakthrough cases (fully vaccinated that contract Covid-19) as well as studies indicating the vaccines waning effectiveness over (a relatively short) time, requiring booster shots and annual vaccinations seriously question the public health imperative. (9)

Some, like Dr. Michael Yeadon a former scientific researcher and vice president at covid vaccine drugs giant Pfizer Inc. claim that public health is definitely not the objective:

“The state is going to vaccinate everyone. The gloves are off. This has never been about a virus or public health. It’s wholly about control, totalitarian & irreversible control at that, and they’re nearly there.” (10)
