Afrika Speaks with Alkebu-Lan on Galaxy Radio 25/11/24 – Is Black men’s health a “silent catastrophe”? Part 2

November 25, 2024 Alkebu-Lan

We continue our discussion on men’s health in light of the event Black Men United: Let’s reason about football, fatherhood and health, that took place on November 23rd. (1)

For some it might seem like a curious mix but given that Afrikan people over sixteen reportedly have among the highest rates of physical activity , it is certainly worth exploring. (2) Worryingly, the trend appears to be continuing with the children. A pre-plandemic report from Sport England suggested that “Black children missing out most on physical activity in England.” Some of the factors cited included economic hardship and lack of access to outdoor spaces. (3)

So clearly, creative intergenerational strategies are required to address these issues.
