GARVEY LIVES! MOSIAH LIVES!
Afrika Speaks with Alkebu-Lan is honoured to host the 10th UNIA-ACL President General Right Honourable Baba Senghor Jawara Baye, the 9thsuccessor to the Most Eminent Prophet and King, His Excellency Marcus Mosiah GarveyBaba Senghor will be taking some time out of his busy schedule, preparing for the government of the UNIA-ACL ‘s 59th International Convention, being held in Queens, New York from the 16th to 21st Mosiah.
Under Baba Senghor’s stewardship, the international profile of the UNIA-ACL has risen dramatically with new charters established in Afrika, the UK and the USA with additional divisions planned for central America.  Baba Senghor also amassed an enviable array of ambassadors to help convey the UNIA ethos globally including UNIA-ACL Traveling Ambassador, Dr. Runoko Rashidi, Mama Marimba AniRace First Sovereign Development, Dr. Tony Browder – Egypt, Bro. Raymond Duque – Haiti and Bro. Ldr. Mbandaka – UK.
This ascendency couldn’t be more timely, with levels of international mobilization against state violence and extra-judicial killings not seen for a generation and the high profile demand for reparations.  This contrasted against a backdrop of Brexit and the reported rise of hate crimes in the UK, extremism across Europe, the increasing militarisation of the police and a resurgent white nationalism, evidenced by the presidential campaign of Donald Trump and the confluence of right-wing commentaries that has coalesced around it – although there is plenty of evidence that a Clinton presidency does not bode well for Afrikans in the USA either. We review the last eight years of the President General’s tenure, that has coincided with the Obama administration and explore where has the terms of the first African-American president left Afrikan people and what is on the horizon for the UNIA-ACL.

So tonight we ask the question:

REBUILDING THE GOVERNMENT: WHERE IS GARVEYISM GOING?

1.    What is the UNIA-ACL prescription for the current global wave of protests?
2.    How is the UNIA-ACL engaging with it?
3.    Where has 8 years of Obama left Afrikan people in the USA and globally?
4.    What are the prospects for Afrikans under a Clinton or Trump presidency?
5.    What are the main priorities for the UNIA-ACL government?

Our very special guests:

Bro. Ldr. Mbandaka: Resident guest who is Spiritual Leader of the Alkebu-Lan Revivalist Movement and UNIA-ACL Ambassador for the UK and national co-Chair of the interim National Afrikan People’s Parliament.  Bro.
