Afrika Speaks: Alkebu-Lan @30 – Where Now for the Liberation Movement?

January 1, 2018 Alkebu-Lan

Odun De! Odun De! (Happy new year)
Odun de ire” (Good fortune in the new year)
Afehyia paaaaa (Happy new year/May the year go around and find us happy and prosperous)
Our first show of the year 6258, as aligned with the ancient Kemetic calendar (1) also coincides with the day of Imani (Faith) – the final day of Kwanzaa.

In a candid, exclusive interview we speak to the speak to thew Spiritual Leader of the Alkebu-Lan Revivalist Movement, Bro. Ldr. Mbandaka as he reflects on ARM’s first thirty years of existence – the highs and lows, the successes and challenges. More than anything else, he emphasises the importance of being rooted in an Afrikan-Centered spiritual ideology and worldview, for:

“Spirituality is the centre and foundation of Afrikan culture, the core of Afrikan consciousness and the the essence of the Afrikan personality.”

He brings his decades of activism to bear on analysing where the liberation movement is at presently and what it needs to do to remain relevant and have a meaningful impact on the lives of Afrikan people everywhere.

The interview took place at Allkebu-Lan’s Head Quarters in east London. At times the Movement’s children can be heard engaging in an exhilarating Kwanzaa workshop.

So no calls or texts this evening family, sit back and listen to an important aspect of our liberation history in the UK unfold.

So tonight we ask the question:

Alkebu-Lan@30: Where now for the liberation Movement?

Are we making the most out of Kwanzaa?
How can we develop an infrastructure around Kwanzaa?
What is Cultural Nationalism and is it revolutionary?
Why was the Alkebu-Lan Revivalist Movement established?
What have been it’s key achievements, successes, challenges and setbacks?
How does the nationalist community remain relevant in the future?

Our very special guest:
