In our final show of the Mosiah season 6261 we continue the discussion from the previous show about Marcus Mosiah Garvey’s principle of Race First. (1) In the show It was outlined that within the Afrikan community, a significant proportion of opposition to the Race First ideology can from what is known as the Black left (some might suggest at the behest of the white left). (2) It was also suggested that this trajectory by some, but by no means all of the Black left continues up to the present.
Yet in the age of the so-called “global village” (3) it might be argued that the world has changed since Garvey’s time and is without historical precedent. Therefore, amid worldwide threats of climate, food insecurity and globalisation that strategic allies are necessary. Nevertheless even those Afrikans seeking allies would be well advised to avoid those with a “race problem.” (4) This may suggest whites may even seek allyship with Afrikans to launder troubling aspects of their image.
Moreover, these global threats are having a deleterious effect on Afrika and Afrikans as a result of European policy imperatives, be they progressive, liberal or neoliberal. (5) As such, Bro. Ldr. Mbandaka concluded that we need to address the:
“Historical facts about the contradictions of us seeking allyship with the white liberal left.” (6)
